History

This eau-de-vie was made with whole fresh Damson plums of exceptional quality, from Alsace or Lorraine depending on the season.  Stems and stones removed, these purple plums are full of juice and give off an aromatic complexity during distillation.

    Production

After fermenting the fruit in vats comes a smooth distillation before diluting with water from Uberach.

    Tasting

Rediscover the aromas of quetsch via this delicate and complex eau-de-vie. It offers dense notes of stone fruit and fresh herbs suggesting mint or aniseed. In the mouth, the floral, toasty flavors develop a nice roundness.

    Serving

The Bertrand Organic Quetsch brandy should be served very cold. You can turn the glass, bumping the ice cubes against the crystal until it’s misty. After removing the ice and pouring the eau-de-vie the fruit’s perfumes waft delicately upwards, increasingly mellow.

The brandy can also be tasted at room temperature, the glass warmed in the palms of the hands.

It’s a perfect match for cinnamon ice-cream or lemon sorbet.
